SEO experts, internet marketers as well as regular internet users are always interested in all things Google and the latest news is that the search engine has expanded its Google Offers service to five more cities.
With this, the total number of cities covered by the service has come up to eight. The latest cities to join the list include Boston, Austin, Seattle, Denver and Washington D.C. The first few cities to be covered by Google Offers included the New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland.
Some of the deals currently being offered through the service include gourmet ice cream worth $10 for $5 at ‘Toscanini Ice Cream’ in Cambridge and a similar deal for Austin based users allowing them to get food and drinks worth $10 at $5 at ‘Juan in a Million’, a popular Mexican restaurant in the city.
Last year Google tried to take over Groupon for $6 billion, but the offer was declined. The search engine giant is now trying to grab a share of the daily deals market with Google Offers. Other than Google, many others have also jumped into the market including Amazon (also a majority share owner in LivingSocial). Google Offers operates like LivingSocial or Groupon in which users are sent local deal for the day through email.
The deals have to be bought within a particular time. Once a sufficient number of people make a purchase, the deal is triggered. The service is powered by Google Checkout and also provides the option to share through email, Google Buzz, Facebook, Google Reader and Twitter.
