Content marketing includes a variety of media, from writing, graphics, and pictures to video or audio recordings. It requires researching information, organizing it and editing that information for publication on a website.
Web developers use to create content themselves or adapted existing work to code into hypertext markup language (HTML). As website development evolved to include diverse technologies, developers found it difficult to keep up.
Web content development had expanded to include audio visual media as well as text that include a host of interactive forms which can be picked up by the search engines.
Content providers specialize in content generation such as graphic design, multimedia presentations and writing skills. Some are search engine optimization specialists or internet marketing professionals.
Search engines like Google look for very high quality, unique content, so content experts are an important part of the SEO process. Keyword-stuffed content, written only for the purpose of manipulating search engine ranking is frowned upon because it’s designed to appeal to machines rather than people or community.
To be successful, a website needs to either specialize in a specific niche audience, with original content that is completely different from anything else out there, or present everyday information in a unique way that stands out from other websites of its kind.
Optimization
There’s no point in having a website if no one can find it. In optimizing a website so that it can be found, SEO’s look for keyword phrases to use that are most likely to be used by searchers when looking for information on the web.
Instead of thinking of a keyword phrase only, think of the keyword phrase as a topic of interest. A good question to ask yourself is, how many topics of interest can you discover specific to your site when performing keyword research.
Stay focused on one topic per page. Have your keyword phrase located in several on page areas such as:
- Your meta title tag
- Your H1 or H2 (heading text)
- Within the body of your text
An additional main factor includes using your keyword phrase as a whole phrase. In other words, if you have three or four keywords to form a phrase, use them both together to form a long tail keyword phrase .
You want at least 300 words of text to form the body of your content. If you don’t have enough readable text on your page, the search engines may see it as insignificant, that is, not enough information to be useful. Gone are the days of doorway pages, which were lightweight pages that had maybe 25 words on them but didn’t provide any useful value to the reader.
Another important thing that you’ll want to include is a sitemap. Include a link to your site map on each individual page so that, regardless of where a search engine robot visits, it will find the sitemap link, follow it and capture all of the pages that you have included on your sitemap.
